Have you ever wondered where all your books go after you click that Buy Now button on Amazon? Or maybe you’ve started reading something on your Kindle, then later wanted to add it to your Goodreads shelf—but forgot? It’s easy to lose track sometimes, isn’t it?
Good news, my fellow book-lover: Amazon and Goodreads are finally talking to each other! Their new “Your Books” feature connects your Amazon purchases directly with your Goodreads library under “My Books”, so you can see, track, and organize all your reads in one cozy digital nook.
As both a reader and an author, I’ve recently played with the feature to see what the hype was all about, and I have to say—it’s a total game changer. Let me walk you through what it does, how to set it up, and why you’re going to love it.
💡 What’s New and Why It’s Great
When you link your Amazon and Goodreads accounts, your Kindle and paperback purchases automatically appear in your Goodreads library—no more hunting down titles or manually adding them.
Here’s why you’ll love it:
-
Automatic book tracking: Every Kindle or print purchase shows up under “My Books.” No more chasing them down.
-
Seamless progress sync: Your reading progress updates between Kindle and Goodreads. Isn’t that cool?
-
Personalized recommendations: Goodreads can suggest your next read based on what you already own.
-
Built-in reading challenge support: Mark books as Read, Currently Reading, or Want to Read—and watch your yearly reading goal grow!
For readers who already use Goodreads to track books or write reviews, this integration saves tons of time and keeps everything beautifully organized.
⚙️ How to Set Up the Connection
It just takes a minute—and it’s super simple.
-
Go to Goodreads and sign in (on desktop for easiest access).
-
Click your profile picture → Account Settings → Apps.
-
Find “Connect to Amazon” and follow the prompts to link your accounts.
-
Once connected, Goodreads will start pulling in your Amazon book purchases.
-
You’ll see them appear under My Books → Books from Amazon.
✨ Pro tip: You can choose whether Goodreads automatically imports new books or lets you approve them first. You’re in charge here.
🧭 Using “My Books” Day to Day
Once everything’s linked, your Goodreads will quietly keep everything up to date for you while you enjoy reading your favorite books.
Here’s what you can do next:
-
Check your shelves: New purchases appear on your “Books from Amazon” shelf—move them to “Want to Read” or “Currently Reading.”
-
Track your progress: If you’re reading on Kindle, your progress and completion status update automatically on Goodreads.
-
Write quick reviews: Finished a great story? (Like maybe one set in a charming Southern small town like Magnolia Hill? 😉) Add your rating or review right from your Kindle or Goodreads app.
-
Get recommendations: Goodreads will suggest similar reads you might enjoy based on your latest buys.
It’s all about keeping your reading life tidy—and helping you remember what you’ve read and loved.
📚 Using “Your Books” on Amazon
Also, hop over to Amazon and see the magic of Goodreads integration firsthand.
-
Find “Your Books”: Click on Books – then Your Books on the black menu bar or type in “your books” in the search field – then click on the Your books box. See the image below. I circled it in pink.
- Library: Shows you the books you purchased on Amazon. You can even filter it down by Genre, Authors, Series, or go into deep details using the filter tool. Swipe to the 2nd photo below.
- Saved Books: This is where you find the books you saved to your Amazon or Goodreads lists. Again, you can filter your view by platform, genres, authors, series, and get even more specific.
- Notes & Highlights: You can even look up your notes and highlights from your kindle books. Pretty neat, right?
❤️ Why You’ll Love It (and Why Authors Like Me Do, Too)
As a reader, this feature makes your bookshelf smarter and your reading experience way smoother, whether you’re browsing Amazon or exploring Goodreads.
As an author, I love it because it helps readers discover and organize the stories that bring them joy. When you add my books (like Hurricane Beach) to your Goodreads shelves, rate them, or share a review—it not only makes my day but also helps other readers find clean, heartwarming romance stories they’ll love.
So next time you finish a book, hop over to Goodreads, mark it Read, and maybe leave a few kind words for the author. (We really do read them!) 💕
🏖️ Ready to Try It?
To get started:
👉 Log in to Goodreads → Connect your Amazon account → Watch your “My Books” shelf fill up like magic.
Then come say hi on my Goodreads Author Page, and let me know what you’re reading next. Who knows—we might be reading the same cozy small-town romance this fall.
Happy reading and shelving,
Lexie 💕
