My Updated Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Review
It’s almost been a year since the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition released in October 2024.
My first experience wasn’t perfect—my device had the infamous yellow-strip screen issue. But after Amazon quickly replaced it, I’ve spent several months with the new Kindle Colorsoft, and I’m ready to share my updated review.

Pros – What I Love as a Reader
1. Full-Color Book Covers in Sleep Mode
One of my favorite features is seeing my current book cover in color when the Kindle is in sleep mode. After years with the Kindle Paperwhite’s black-and-white screensavers, this still makes me smile every time I open my Kindle.
2. A Colorful Kindle Library
Browsing my Kindle library is more enjoyable now that I can see cover thumbnails in full color. It feels closer to browsing a real bookshelf and makes choosing my next read a lot more fun.
3. Color Highlights That You Can Edit
As a visual learner, I love highlighting sections in non-fiction books. With physical books, I’d often regret my color choice. On the Kindle Colorsoft, I can highlight in one color and easily change it later. Game changer!
4. Notes in Color
Highlights and annotations are now color-coded, making them easier to organize. This is especially handy when I’m reviewing books and need to remember key lines or passages.
5. Dark Mode for Night Reading
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition includes dark mode, which is perfect for reading at night or when my eyes are tired. The adjustable brightness and warm tone settings are similar to the Paperwhite, but dark mode adds another layer of comfort.
Cons – What Could Be Better
The Price
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is more expensive than the Kindle Paperwhite. The Signature model includes wireless charging and an auto-brightness sensor, but you can save about $30 if you choose the standard Colorsoft instead.
Is the Kindle Colorsoft Worth It?
For me, yes—the Kindle Colorsoft has been absolutely worth the investment. As a book lover, the enhanced reading experience makes it hard to go back to a black-and-white Kindle.
Battery life is shorter than the Paperwhite, but I still only charge it every couple of weeks, and charging is quick. If budget is a concern, the regular Colorsoft (without the Signature extras) is still a fantastic option.
Also, if you already have one, the Kindle Colorsoft makes a perfect gift for readers in your family. I bought one for my hubby for his birthday after he fell in love with mine.Â
